On October 16, 2026, the Sergipe state government announced plans to complete 17 public works projects by December, reporting investments of R$36,958,179.43 and coverage of 14 municipalities. According to the State Secretariat for Urban Development and Infrastructure (Sedurbi), seven projects were receiving final adjustments, four were expected to finish by November and six by December. These are government-reported stages and forecasts, not independently verified handovers.

What remains unverified

The announcement lists 14 municipalities, including Santa Luzia do Itanhy, but does not clearly identify a specific project in that municipality within its descriptive list. The locations below follow a reading of the announced schedule, whose links between some public facilities and municipalities are not supported by a project-by-project table. The notice also lacks individual completion percentages, contract numbers, measurement certificates, disbursements or acceptance records. It therefore cannot independently establish the physical or financial progress or actual handover of all 17 projects.

What the projects could change

The works cover public squares, a sports court, a market, a cultural venue, drainage, river sediment removal and urban improvements. If completed and opened for public use, they could expand recreation spaces, access to public facilities and drainage infrastructure. These are intended or potential benefits, not measured outcomes.

How to verify future updates

Sedurbi is the source of the October 16 schedule. The state transparency portal provides an ongoing works dashboard, but the page viewed carried a May 4, 2026 update and did not permit project-by-project verification of all 17 works. The April Acelera Sergipe report concerns a broader project portfolio and does not prove completion of this particular group. Subsequent records identifying each project, contracts, measurements and completion dates are required to establish handover.
