The Federal Institute of Sergipe (Instituto Federal de Sergipe, IFS) is accepting applications from October 19 through 28, 2026, for four temporary substitute Information Technology teaching positions at its Aracaju, Lagarto and São Cristóvão campuses. The deadline is 11:59 p.m. on October 28, Brasília time, and registration is online. As of October 22, applications are open. Applicants must take account of two official updates: the revised list of acceptable degrees, published on October 19, and the corrected registration system address announced on October 20.
How many positions are available, and who can apply?
There are four positions with a 40-hour working week and an initially planned 12-month contract. Eligible qualifications vary by campus. The table reflects Update No. 02, which corrected the qualifications originally listed in the notice.
| Campus | Positions | Accepted higher-education qualifications after the revision |
|---|---|---|
| Lagarto | 1 | Degrees in Information Systems; Computer Science; Computer Engineering; Data Processing Technology; Systems Analysis and Development; a teaching degree in Informatics; or a higher-education technology degree in Information Technology Management (Tecnologia em Gestão da Tecnologia da Informação). |
| Aracaju | 1 | Degrees in Computer Science; Software Engineering; Information Systems; Data Processing Technology; Systems Analysis and Development; Internet Systems; a teaching degree in Informatics; or a teaching degree in Computing. |
| São Cristóvão | 2 | Bachelor's degrees in Information Systems, Computer Science or Computer Engineering; technology degrees in Informatics, Systems Analysis and Development or Data Processing; bachelor's degrees in Software Engineering or Systems Engineering; teaching degrees in Informatics or Computing; or a higher-education technology degree in Information Technology Management. |
The October 19 revision added Information Technology Management technology degrees for Lagarto and São Cristóvão, but not Aracaju. It also added teaching degrees in Informatics and Computing to Aracaju's accepted qualifications. Required qualifications will be checked before hiring; a degree with a similar name should not automatically be assumed eligible.
SIGRH registration: corrected address and fee
- Use the website specified by IFS in Update No. 03 on October 20: https://sigrh.ifs.edu.br/sigrh/public/home.jsf. The former address in the notice PDF and launch announcement was superseded for registration because the system required adjustments.
- In the system, follow Concursos > Concursos Abertos > Inscrever-se no concurso > Inscrever-se para a vaga na área do concurso. An active email account is required to receive login details.
- Complete the form for your chosen position and generate a federal payment slip (GRU) for R$ 50.00. Applicants without an approved waiver must pay by the next business day after registrations close, namely October 29, 2026, through Banco do Brasil. Scheduling a payment does not mean it has been paid.
- By October 28, upload an updated Lattes academic CV, official photo identification and supporting qualification documents using the candidate-document option. Files must be PDFs of up to 5 MB each. According to the notice, an applicant who fails to upload official identification will be disqualified.
- Check your application approval status and subsequent announcements on the official notice page. Completing the online form alone does not confirm approval.
Fee waivers and instructions for reserved places
The fee-waiver request window for applicants registered with CadÚnico and belonging to low-income families ran from October 19 to 21, 2026, and had ended by the reporting date. The notice scheduled preliminary waiver decisions by October 22; appeals are allowed October 22 through 23, until 11:59 p.m., via selecao.pss@ifs.edu.br, and final waiver decisions are scheduled by October 26. Requesting a waiver does not guarantee approval.
Update No. 01 states that SIGRH was still displaying outdated descriptions for reserved places. For Black, Brown, Indigenous and Quilombola applicants, the committee instructed users to select the system option labelled “Cotas - vagas destinadas a candidatos negros (Lei nº 12.990/2014)”, while acknowledging that the legislation shown in the interface was outdated. Applicants with disabilities whose condition is not listed should choose “Outras Necessidades”. These are instructions issued by IFS and do not replace the forms, self-declarations, evidence or additional submissions required for the applicable reserved-place categories.
Selection stages and provisional dates
Selection has two stages. The teaching demonstration is held in person, is both eliminatory and ranking-based, is worth up to 100 points and requires at least 70 points to qualify. The lesson must last 25 to 30 minutes; before starting, candidates must submit three typed, printed and signed copies of their lesson plan using the notice template. The qualifications assessment is ranking-based, is worth up to 100 points and evaluates documents submitted and the Lattes CV of applicants who qualify for that stage.
- November 11, 2026: public drawing of the teaching-demonstration topic, scheduled for 11 a.m.
- November 12, 2026: scheduled publication of teaching-demonstration call notices.
- November 16 to 25, 2026: planned demonstration period; venues and appointment times will be announced by the organizers.
- By December 4, 2026: scheduled final teaching-demonstration result.
- By December 23, 2026: scheduled final qualifications-assessment result.
These dates reflect the timetable reviewed on October 22 and may change through an official update. The examination venue may be a campus other than the one chosen for employment. Candidates should watch for their call notices and prepare their own teaching materials, because the notice says IFS will supply only a room and whiteboard.
Pay: different figures in official IFS publications
The opening-notice PDF posted by IFS lists a basic salary of R$ 4,478.03 for a 40-hour week, plus a R$ 1,192.00 meal allowance and possible additional pay for qualifications, subject to the notice's rules. However, the institutional news article from October 14 quotes a basic salary of R$ 4,326.60. Since both figures appear in different official publications, this report flags the discrepancy and advises applicants to confirm the applicable pay table directly with Progep before making a contractual decision. Contracts are initially planned for 12 months and may be extended, subject to the 24-month limit stated in the notice.
Editorial update: information checked on October 22, 2026. The official notice page brings together the updates and should take precedence over older summaries regarding the corrected registration link and revised qualifications.
