The Municipal Transport and Traffic Authority (SMTT) of Aracaju announced a traffic operation for the political event Bloquinho do 22 on Tuesday, October 20, 2026, in the 13 de Julho neighborhood, with a planned route toward Praia Formosa. The gathering was scheduled for 6 p.m. in front of Iate Clube, and road closures were planned from 4 p.m. Fourteen traffic officers in seven teams were assigned to the operation.
Planned route and staffing
According to the city government, a sound truck would travel along Governador Paulo Barreto de Menezes Avenue toward the Petrox gas station near Praia Formosa. The Praia Formosa parking area was cordoned off on the morning of October 20, according to the municipal notice. Other closure times could change depending on the crowd and traffic officers’ assessment.
Announced closures and alternative routes
In the Beaches-to-Downtown direction, a closure was announced at the intersection of Governador Paulo Barreto de Menezes Avenue and Anísio Azevedo Avenue. SMTT designated Anísio Azevedo Avenue as the diversion, with Cedro Street and Gonçalo Prado Rolemberg Avenue as options toward Downtown. The diversion could be moved farther back to Francisco Porto Avenue.
In the Downtown-to-Beaches direction, Ivo do Prado Avenue was expected to close near Barão de Maruim Avenue. SMTT identified Barão de Maruim Avenue and, for access to the southern part of the city, Dom José Thomaz, Santa Luzia and Arauá streets. Closures were also announced at Ivo do Prado Avenue and Augusto Maynard Avenue, and on access streets to Governador Paulo Barreto de Menezes Avenue between Campo do Brito Street and Anísio Azevedo Avenue.
