The Federal University of Sergipe (UFS) is offering 50 places in its Music Teaching Degree (Licenciatura), with evening classes at the São Cristóvão campus and entry planned for the first semester of 2027. Online registration runs from October 20 to 27, 2026. Applicants must complete elimination-stage music assessments scheduled for December and meet the Enem-based ranking rules in Notice 45/2026/PROGRAD/UFS.

Registration, fee and payment

The application form is available through the 2027 Music Entrance Examination registration system, linked from the official Undergraduate Studies Office (Prograd) page. Applicants must correctly enter their full name, CPF Brazilian tax identification number and other required details. The notice permits one registration per CPF.

The application fee is R$ 60.00. After applying, candidates must generate the federal payment slip (GRU) and pay it exclusively through Banco do Brasil by the end of banking hours on October 28, 2026. A payment appointment that has not been settled is not proof of payment. Registration becomes effective once the payment clears or an approved fee waiver is linked to the application.

Applications for a fee waiver, subject to an up-to-date CadÚnico registration and family income per person of no more than half the minimum wage, were accepted from October 13 to 15 and are now closed. Even people granted a waiver must complete registration. The notice allows personal-data corrections from October 20 to 28 and registration confirmation from October 22 to 30 through the channels indicated by Prograd.

Eligibility and allocation of places

Applicants must have completed, or be completing, secondary school and have taken an Enem examination between 2022 and 2026. The 50 places cover open competition and specific and reserved categories. The notice allocates 19 places to open competition (AC); the other 31 are distributed among category I, for people with disabilities who have not opted for reserved places, and the affirmative-action categories specified in the notice. Eligibility and documentary requirements differ by category.

Two stages: music assessments eliminate; Enem determines ranking

The first stage consists of music theory and practical examinations, both eliminatory. Candidates must meet the requirements to be deemed eligible. Music-assessment outcomes are recorded only as “apto” (eligible) or “inapto” (ineligible) and do not contribute points to the final ranking score.

In the second stage, UFS uses the highest valid final Enem score from any examination between 2022 and 2026, calculated using a weighted average. An Enem sitting is disregarded if the applicant missed any test or scored below 400 in any knowledge area or in the essay. The weights are:

Enem componentWeight
Languages, Codes and Technologies3.0
Human Sciences and Technologies2.0
Natural Sciences and Technologies1.0
Mathematics and Technologies1.5
Essay2.5

Theory examination: topics and minimum threshold

The theory examination is scheduled for December 6, 2026, from 9:15 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. at the São Cristóvão campus in the Rosa Elze neighborhood. It contains 30 multiple-choice questions: 10 on musical perception and 20 on music theory, including notation, scales, intervals, chords, meter, music history and harmony. Candidates answering fewer than 30% of the questions correctly, meaning fewer than 9 correct answers, are eliminated.

Entrance gates will close at 9 a.m. UFS recommends arriving one hour early. Applicants must present an original official photo ID and a legible printed copy of the theory-exam location card, which is scheduled to become available on November 30.

Practical examination: sight-singing and performance

The practical assessment includes solfège (sight-singing) of a randomly selected notated melody and musical performance of a piece of the candidate’s choice, either sung or played on their instrument. A panel of three UFS music lecturers will assess the candidate. The maximum duration is 15 minutes for both activities combined. Criteria include tuning, rhythm, technical control, interpretation and posture.

The designated venue is the Music Department in the Didática VII building on the São Cristóvão campus. According to the notice, the university will provide only an acoustic piano; candidates must bring their own instruments when needed. Playback and recorded accompaniment are prohibited. Each candidate’s practical-exam card, stating the date, session and time, will be handed out to theory-exam participants or made available through an official list under the notice’s rules.

Important: conflicting dates appear in the official notice

The university document itself contains an inconsistency. The schedule table in section 8.19 and the UFS announcement list the practical exams as December 7 to 9, 2026, with sessions from 8 a.m. to noon and 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. However, section 8.5 and the final schedule in the same Notice 45/2026 state December 7 to 10. Neither date range can be presented as an official correction of the other. Applicants should check their individual exam card and new Prograd announcements before planning travel.

Another discrepancy concerns the preliminary ranking: section 11.1 mentions December 18, 2026, whereas the final timetable states a deadline of January 18, 2027. UFS must also clarify that date through a later announcement.

Accessibility, results and official updates

Requests for examination accommodations were to be submitted during registration, from October 20 to 27, with the documentation specified in the notice. Decisions on requests are scheduled for November 3. The theory answer key is due on December 6, with appeals from December 7 to 9. Practical-exam results are scheduled for December 11, with appeals on December 14 and 15. Candidates should follow the official entrance-exam page for these stages and their individual reporting times.

Editorial verification dated October 23, 2026: these details reflect the published notice and the institutional pages consulted. Future deadlines and procedures may change through further official announcements.
