In Aracaju, restoration and widening work on segments connected to Rodovia dos Náufragos was still underway according to the latest specific update from Sergipe's State Highway Infrastructure Department (DER/SE), updated on 9 October 2026. The first asphalt layer had been laid on only the initial kilometers of the restoration project, while the approximately 1 km widening section near Avenida Melício Machado remained at the earthworks stage. For drivers, residents and people using routes to the beaches of the Zona de Expansão area and Ponte Joel Silveira, this means ongoing construction, not completion or the full reopening of the road. The information was checked on 23 October 2026 against the identified publications.
The 13.64 km restoration and the 1 km widening are different projects
DER/SE describes two distinct interventions under the Pró-Rodovias 3 program. The larger package includes pavement rehabilitation, stormwater drainage, a drainage channel and the addition of road shoulders. The smaller intervention focuses on widening and improvements near Avenida Melício Machado.
An important distinction appears in electronic tender 40/2025: the 13.64 km total combines two highway segments. It does not mean that 13.64 km lies entirely on SE-050.
| Intervention | Documented length | Location and scope |
|---|---|---|
| Restoration, SE-100 segment | 2.25 km | From Ponte Joel Silveira over the Vaza-Barris River to the SE-050 junction |
| Restoration, SE-050 segment | 11.39 km | From the SE-100 junction to Avenida Melício Machado |
| Total restoration | 13.64 km | Sum of the two segments in the restoration contract |
| Widening and improvements | approximately 1 km | Separate intervention on Rodovia dos Náufragos near Avenida Melício Machado |
What DER/SE reported as completed in October
In its 9 October update, the DER/SE engineer overseeing both projects said crews were finishing drainage channels toward Ponte Joel Silveira and had begun laying the first asphalt layer on the approach to the bridge. Earthworks were being carried out on the widening section in the opposite direction. The update does not state that all 13.64 km have been paved or that the widened section has been delivered.
According to DER/SE, the expected benefits include better rainwater runoff, less standing water on the roadway and improved traffic flow. These are the agency's projected benefits, not outcomes verified after delivery. The consulted update provides no overall completion percentage for either contract.
Contract values and deadlines: what the records show
Electronic tender 40/2025 for the 13.64 km restoration was approved on 16 September 2025. Construtora Celi Ltda. won with a bid of R$ 82,647,669.15. The R$ 84,335,140.56 repeated in the DER/SE news update was the estimated tender value, rather than the winning bid. An earlier tender for the same section, 26/2025, had been canceled and must not be confused with the later contract.
For the separate approximately 1 km intervention, electronic tender 2/2025 was approved on 28 May 2025, also awarded to Construtora Celi Ltda., for R$ 14,840,000.00. Together, the two winning bids amount to R$ 97,487,669.15. This sum represents awarded bid amounts, not evidence of payments already made or work already completed.
The Sergipe Official Gazette dated 11 August 2026 published an extract of the second amendment to contract PJ-077/2025 for the 13.64 km section: the execution period increased from 300 to 420 days, and the contract validity period from 600 to 720 days. A contractual duration does not automatically establish a confirmed handover date. The documents reviewed do not support a definitive completion day.
Road closures, access and what remains unconfirmed
The October update does not provide a current list of closures, detour times, lane reopening dates or a section-by-section schedule. It is therefore not possible to establish from these sources that any specific closure is currently in place or that traffic has fully returned to normal. People traveling through the area should check up-to-date DER/SE operational notices and the signs displayed along the route.
Documentary confirmation is still needed that drainage and shoulders are complete throughout the route, the remaining asphalt layers have been applied, widening is finished and the works have been formally accepted. Sergipe Diário reported progress on 10 October but explicitly attributed its information to DER/SE; the article is not independent confirmation of completion.
